When is a floor drain required by code

Related Projects. Im looking at section and cannot find whether or not they are actually required. The code seems to just explain how to install them. Can anyone chime in on this? The IPC doesn't explicitly state where floor drains are required.

But other codes might. When a commercial kitchen has food prep sinks - they typically cannot connect directly to the sanitary sewer system. A floor sink or deep bodied floor drain is provided for this purpose.

Sometimes one of the bowls of a three bowl sink is required to be indirectly connected. The relief from a reduced pressure backflow preventor has to be indirectly connected - to a floor drain. When HVAC equipment has condensate drainage - it has to go somewhere - typically a floor drain. So - while they may not be "required" - they make good sense.

I'm leaning on not putting in a drain to avoid tearing up the existing floor to install drains. So based on the last answer I got I would not violate code?

The IPC does not have a toilet room specific emergency floor drain requirement. My understanding is that it is a protective option for fixture overflows, leakage, and spills. I don't believe this an accessibility requirement. Try reposting in the accessibility forum. Gregg Harris Saw Horse.
